The Options
OPTION 1
Workshop/Performance
Nick Parnell's Percussion Workshops consist of demonstrations/performances of a colourful range of styles, including African, Classical, Popular and Spanish. They demonstrate tuned and non-tuned percussion instruments such as the Marimba, Drum Kit and Djembe Drums. The workshops use volunteers throughout, which gives students a fun and interactive experience of the world of percussion!
Suits: Yr 3-12
Duration: 50 minutes
Numbers: Unlimited
Requirements : School to provide drum kit
Space Required: 1.5m deep by 5m wide
Load in and out time: 30 minutes each
OPTION 2
Concert Option
Schools are invited to host a full concert recital as well as a workshop. This is a chance for students to see a concert artist in action, and great opportunity to invite parents and the wider community to a spectacular show.
OPTION 3
Artist in Residence Option
This option includes workshops, concert and Nick working closely with students through individual lessons and ensemble rehearsals. Often instrumental students (e.g. Pianists) are invited to perform with Nick. It is usually done over a number of days. Nick brings a range of concert size instruments which gives students the opportunity to experience first hand the magnitude of percussion, and experience instruments that are mostly not accessible to schools.
