A musical percussion instrument with a double row of tuned metal bars each above a tubular resonator. Contains a pedal to control sustain. Most impressively (and physically) played with four mallets. Emits a mellow and smooth singing tone.

Overview

Nick Parnell's interactive school percussion performances showcase a wide variety of instruments across a colourful range of musical styles – rock, classical, African and Brazilian – incorporating tuned and non-tuned percussion instruments such as drum kit, vibraphone, bongos and djembe drums. Volunteers are used throughout the sessions to demonstrate various playing techniques, as well as giving students a fun and interactive introduction to the world of percussion.
